Teaching

Excellence in education, innovative pedagogy.

The department takes its educational mission seriously.  All courses from Calculus upwards are taught by regular faculty.  Class sizes are capped at 35, with most advanced classes smaller still.  Most courses involve hands-on work, group work, or inquiry learning.

SLU faculty are innovators in pedagogy, curricular development, and classroom technology.  From freshman courses (such as the freshman seminars or our Python based intro CS) to teacher training (such as Project NExt or our interactive online PREP workshops), the department is leading the way in effective education.
