Math and Art
From Prep08Wiki
Linking math and art is an interesting idea, but it does require one to know where to find the appropriate examples. We have used a lot of Escher materials because they are so easily seen to be mathematical in nature.
As a warm-up we would like each group to choose one of the following well known modern artists. Search the internet for their work (e.g. use Google images and search for the artist's name and maybe the word 'geometry'). Then, pick some of your artist's works to use in the classroom.
- 'Claim' your artist: Create a new page on this wiki (you can click on any link below to do that) and put your names on it - we're going to have each group work on a different artist.
- Make a worksheet: On the '(Artist) Exploration' page, ask questions for your students that connects your artist's work to mathematics. Upload relevant images so they appear on your worksheet.
