I am Nancy Johnson. I've been teaching at Manatee Community College in Bradenton Florida for 18 years. That sounds so long. I taught high school math in Ohio and Texas and also taught developmental math at a private college in the hill country of Texas. Mathematics is my scholarly focus, but art and artistic pursuits are just part of my life. I enjoy tesselations and regularly teach my liberal arts students how to make simple tesselations which they then must decorate artisically. I keep my favorites. I am looking forward to exploring the connection between mathematics and mathematics more deeply. I will also be sharing what I learn with my colleagues. They wanted to enroll in the workshop, but could not becuase of their summer teaching schedule.
