Talk:Rosette Worksheet - Andre
From Prep08Wiki
Andre,
This is a great resource for images of symmetry in nature! I really like that you can see both rigid symmetries, and self-similarity in some of the spiral shells.
Since you talk about non-isometric symmetries later, you might want to specify in the first question that you are looking at rigid symmetries. And my preference would be to ask them to do a quantitative census of how many of the animals have each symmetry, rather than just which are census. You could ask them to produce a bar chart to illustrate the distribution of symmetry types among the creatures.
And in 2(b), what do you mean by the "angle between the features"? That's not clear to me.
Great worksheet!

Let me second Blake's suggestion about a bar chart or some other statistical summary. I never think to ask that kind of thing, but it's perfect here. Bryan 06:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
