ChangeRingingSymmetry

If we look at the patterns created by the work of the bells in change ringing, we can see different types of symmetry in different methods. The most common type of symmetry is found by looking at a single lead of many methods (from lead end to lead head) and considering the paths of all of the bells at once. In doing so, we see a nice bit of reflection symmetry. One example of this can be seen in Plain Bob Major:

Depending on how we represent a method, we might see other symmetries. The design of the logo for the 2007 North American Guild of Change Ringers (NAGCR) in Atlanta showed the cyclic nature of a Plain Hunt on eight bells very nicely and gave a pretty example of rotational symmetry:
