Objective: Explore how Escher created impossible figures and how he used perspective to create illusions.

1. Go to “Downloads”

Look at the MPEG movies Belvedere, Waterfall, and Ascending and Descending. Write a short paragraph about how the movie explains each of the drawings.

Go to “Gallery”. Look at “Back in Holland 1941 – 1954” and “Recognition and Success 1955-1972”.

2. There are several prints that qualify as “impossible figures”. Identify them.

3. There are several prints that are about the difference between 2- and 3-dimensional object. Identify some of these.
