Representations of certain special linear groups

Abstract: Kevin Scannell and I are studying a paper by R.G. Swan. "Generators and Relations for certain Special Linear Groups" (Advances in Mathematics , 6, 1-77 (1971) ) We are planning to give a series of talks about this paper. This first talk will be an introductory talk.
The paper outlines an algorithm for finding representations of so called Bianchi Groups. The first talk will give you some idea (I hope) of the flavor of the paper and the type of constructions we will be looking at.
