List of Theban Tombs

Information collected from different souces

by Anneke Bart

Thebes was an important city in Ancient Egypt. The hills and cliffs of the west bank are honeycombed with tombs. Some of these tombs are being excavated to this day and much new information is still being learned from these tombs. The list given below leans very heavily on the work of Porter and Moss. Their publication (through the Griffith Institute) is the basis for a significant part of the information given below.

Some new information that has come to light due to excavations in recent years (for as far as I am aware of it) has been added. Where appropriate links have been given to outside sources which describe the tombs.
